Author: Don Blankenship

The media for many years has caused people to think that Don Blankenship was tried for having caused the Upper Big Branch Mine (UBB) explosion. But Don was not tried for the explosion because if he had of been the government feared he would have proven that MSHA caused the explosion. We had this new ad produced to help clarify what Don was actually tried for. It is common practice for companies to put out a press release following a tragedy. The Investor Relations Department at Massey Energy Company initiated and wrote a letter doing just that after the UBB…

The Republican Party swampers in Washington have come to the surface to oppose my candidacy for the U.S. Senate. They are swamp creatures who pretend to be conservatives but are instead liberal big spenders. We welcome the fact that they are showing themselves to be what they truly are. What they are is out of touch. They are old school liberals who waste our money, fund Planned Parenthood instead of the border wall, and hold back Trump’s “America First Agenda.” All of this is proof that they are spineless bureaucrats. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is likely lying when he…

Today, Don Blankenship thanked President Trump for his visit to West Virginia to highlight the recently passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Blankenship supports this, and all of President Trump’s efforts, to improve our state and national economies and to put America first. Blankenship also agrees with President Trump that Senator Manchin too often sides with Washington liberals and votes against the best interests of working West Virginians. According to Blankenship, many in the DC establishment believe the best way to beat Joe Manchin is to find someone exactly like him and run that person as a Republican. “Voters in…

The Office of Professional Responsibility of the Department of Justice is conducting an investigation of the prosecution of Don Blankenship. Don Blankenship said, “ It has already been established beyond all doubt that the prosecution in my case withheld information from my attorneys and me, that should have been provided before my trial. The Department of Justice has, since my trial, provided my attorneys with numerous reports and other information not previously disclosed. These materials should have been provided to me pre-trial.” Blankenship continued, “Because of this withheld information, it is my understanding from my attorneys that the actions of…

Tomorrow, April 5th, is the 8th anniversary of the Upper Big Branch (UBB) mine tragedy, which took the lives of 29 coal miners. The miners who lost their lives were among Massey and the coal industry’s very best. Collectively they had perhaps 400 years of experience. They had proven day after day and year after year that they were professional miners. Some had worked at UBB throughout the mine’s entire seventeen years of existence. There is no way I can personally express the sorrow and heartbreak I felt when I first learned of the tragedy sometime near 4 p.m. that…

Don Blankenship, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, issued the following release explaining a new television ad exposing Evan Jenkins’ Anti-Second Amendment vote. Career politicians have a great ability to change their past voting records when election time rolls around. Jenkins started off his campaign ads with “Almost Heaven.” He was acting as if things are just rosy in our state. A state that is last in workforce participation and first in drug overdose deaths. As we said in our rebuttal, West Virginians love the song but we are not living in “Almost Heaven” we are instead last. And now Jenkins…

This ad titled A BRIGHTER FUTURE informs the viewer that while Don is not a politician he has led successful efforts to improve the present and future of West Virginians. Many West Virginians are not aware or do not recall what Don has done for them and for the state. He has spent millions of his own dollars over the past 25 years to help those needing help. Don has always been a large donor to many West Virginia charitable causes. But when asked to make donations that would honor him by putting his name on a building or a…

Evan Jenkins, like most career politicians, has had to change his loyalties as West Virginia has turned Republican. But he did not likely do so because his beliefs changed, but rather because if he did not he could not win the 2014 Congressional race. The ad shows Nick Rahall talking during a debate with Jenkins in 2014 just after Evan had criticized Obamacare and Obama in the debate. Rahall then says he received support from Jenkins even after Jenkins knew of Rahall’s support for both Obama and Obamacare. The graphic notes that Rahall was then Chairman of the group Arab…
